SARAH VERNLUND



Sarah has been a full-time instructor for 25 years, joining Denville-Kanani Farms in 1988. She trains and coaches Beginning Novice through Intermediate level eventers, and instructs dressage riders through Second level.

She has shown horses herself for 38 years, starting on the lead line and with the Pony Club in Conneticut, and was competitive for the U.S. Olympic eventing team for the Seoul Olympics in 1988 until her horse sustained an injury.

She is currently showing one of the young horses she has bred herself, seven year old Silver Wings by the Swedish Stallion, Laylock. They won at Novice, Training, and Preliminary level and are now competing in CCI*.

All of these young riders are now college graduates
- many of them now have their graduate degrees!

Sarah has trained in eventing with the USET, with Jack Le Goff, Jim Wofford,Denny Emerson, and Karen and David O'Connor. In jumping, she is clinicing with Bob McDonald. In dressage, she trains with Creey Routson and Chelsey Sibley, and has trained with Jessica Ransehousen, US Olympic Dressage coach,and Kalmen DeJurenak, founder and judge of the German Hannoverian Breed

In 2003
They won Preliminary Divisions at Ram Tap amd Shepherd Ranch
They were overall PRELIMINARY CHAMPIONS at Ram Tap.
They are now competing in Preliminary and CCI*, planning a move to Intermediate

(SiVa! was bred and trained by Sarah.
She is now owned by a Pony Club rider at Denville Kanani and is teaching a new generation to event.
Sarah has competed and won in dressage through Third Level, earning her USDF Bronze medal.

She has competed and won in eventing through the Advanced level. She was 2nd place in the Jr National Championships, and 3rd place in the North American Jr Championships in Toronto.

She has bred, trained and shown two AHSA Zone 10 Preliminary Horses of the Year, and an AHSA Zone 10 Training Horse of the Year, AND a USDF All-Breed First Level Champion.. She has trained and shown an Area VI USCTA Novice Horse of the year and a USDF All-Breed NATIONAL Champion at Training and First Level dressage.
